UGANDA
TRAVEL & GORILLA TREKS
Uganda is a
beautiful, landlocked central African country, blessed with
great lakes, beautiful scenery, hospitable people and great
opportunities for gorilla and chimpanzee treks and expeditions.
The country is making
strides after years of civil unrest, but organising a Uganda
safari is still not as easy to a tour to neighbouring Tanzania
or Kenya, but if the traveller is intent on exploring the
tropical rain forest habitats and tracking down the great
primates, then Uganda is your destination.
Sound ecotourism policies
and the allure of the great silverbacks and mountain gorillas
have played a large role in restoring traveller confidence
in Uganda, while white water rafting and sport fishing are
also becoming increasingly important drawcards for Uganda
toursim.
The main destinations
for a Uganda safari are Bwindi Impenetrable National Park,
which is home to half of the world's population of Mountain
Gorillas, while Kibale Forest has the largest concentration
of over 500 chimpanzees, while the famous Murchinon Falls
on the Nile River are a truly spectacular sight.
The main arrival point
into Uganda is the international airport between Kampala and
Entebbe, which is linked by air to neighbouring East African
countires of Kenya and Tanzania, or from Johannesburg or London..
